DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the
pool manager/supervisor, monitors swimming areas, maintains order and enforces
established rules of safety and behavior.
Instructs cautions and/or expels patrons as appropriate. Reports problems to
manager/supervisor. Uses a variety of techniques, in case of emergency, such as
artificial respiration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. Notifies emergency medical
services (
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a current and valid American Red Cross (ARC) lifeguard certification covering lifesaving and water rescue methods, skills and procedures. Must possess current and valid ARC basic first aid and CPR certifications, CPR for the Professional Rescuer w/AED certification. CPR certification must include adult, child and infant procedures. All certifications must remain current during the period of employment. Limited knowledge, acquired on the job, of swimming facility rules, work procedures, equipment and materials to perform standing and recurring tasks. Some physical exertion is required in effecting a swimming rescue, must be able to lift and carry 45 pounds and over. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and some cash register experience is preferred but not necessary.
